Post 135 Mission Statement
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization.
Georgia Post 135 was chartered and incorporated in 1936 and is committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. Post 135 is the largest American Legion Post in Chatham County.
Our Post is grounded in ideals that comprise the foundation of our process in establishing a focus for our activities:
1. Give back to the Community
2. Assist Veterans and their Families
3. Maintain Flexibility and Control
4. Create a veteran-civilian link.
